Why Is Ken Griffey Jr Getting No Attention?
I find it very disrespectful that ESPN is up Manny's butt and Ken Griffey Jr is on the verge of hitting #600 not to mention he has played the game right and with more class than Manny. And it's not just ESPN, I see nobody talking about it at all even here in Cincinnati. Griffey is about to enter the #600 club to join Mays, Aaron and Ruth while the other 2 are suspicious steroid users.

now that Ken Griffey JR. has 600 HR is that enough to get in to the Hall of Fame on a first ballot, or has his stints on the DL hurt his chances, because of where he should have been????
If Griffey doesn't make 1st ballot, I officially disagree with just about everything the Hall of Fame does.
Sure injuries have plagued his career, but look at his numbers WITH the injuries. Not many players get hurt year in and year out, and hit 600HR, close to 3,000 hits, and the rest of the totals he put up. Griffey hit 600 HR and is also clean (you can tell because he was never bulked up).

Everyone is on the right track. Griffey Jr. has 590 HR in 2343 games to date, or an average of 0.2518 per game. Now add in the injury factor. Lets say he would play 154 games a year for his career without injury (give some games off to rest) and to this point Griffey would have played 17 seasons X 154 games per = 2618. Add in the 111 played in 1994 and keep his 109 for this season so far and that is 2838. Multiply the 0.2518 by that and he would have around 715 HR right now. Of course, that is all going by career pace, which is never 100% accurate in determining final numbers.
*Option 2 - If you wish, you can consider if he never missed or sat out any game for his career. To date then, he would have played 17 full seasons, 112 games in 1994 and 117 so far in 2007, for a total of 2983 games. At the 0.2518 HR/game rate he would have a grand total of 751 HR.
