I play basketball in two different gyms. One of the gym the basketball rim is half an inch higher than the other gym to discourage people from dunking. The question is if I attempt 50 jump shots the same way will I have the same percentage of made field goal?
Yes it affects your shot.
And I don't see how half an inch discourages anyone from dunking.

How do you put a basketball rim in the ground? My rolly broke because of a bad storm. I have the pole and the rim.
Well your rolly rim was already set at a specified height, so putting this pole & rim in the ground will lower your rim, & if you wanna go that route, fine, but if not, you'll have to find another way than just "digging a hole".
You'll need to find another pole to go inside your current pole inorder for it to be stable, or find a pole that is larger, but something to stop the pole to set it inside so it doesn't slide inside the larger pole.
Next, you'll need a bubble level to ensure your pole is perpendicular at an exact 90 degree angle to the ground, if not, you're just wasting your time, as the rim will be off, & you'd be better off with just buying another rolly rim.
Once you've ensured you have enough pole to get the rim to 10' in height, then you can:
Dig your hole & set your over/under sized pole, fill it back up, & level it, if your using concrete, let it set before you push the pole into the ground. once set, level the pole & let the concrete dry, & then add your pole from the rolly rim.
Who thinks the basketball rim should be raised to 11 feet high?
I know dunking is fun to watch, but it seems like there should be more outside jump shooting. Still, many of the big men could dunk on a higher rim. Players continue to get taller. Lets make basketball more of a challenge and see who comes after the Jordan's and Lebron's.
It's not that players are getting taller, its players getting more athletic. But i find it fine the way it is.

The wind knocked over my basketball court and bent the rim. I need to fix it, Any advice on how to bend it to normal without causing further damage?
