Bowling Shoes?

I want to buy some bowling shoes, but I know nothing about them. What do you suggest I get? What brand has the best value? (money/quality) Thanks

I'd purchase either Dexter, Linds, Circle or Brunswick brands of bowling shoes. All manufacturers have sturdy shoes (my Dexters lasted for over 15 years), and they all have entry level types that start at $29.99 for beginners. It's definitely a good investment unless you want to rent shoes at $3-4 bucks each time you bowl.

For right handers, the sliding sole is on the left shoe and for lefties, it will be on the right shoe. There are basic bowling shoes where both shoes will have sliding soles. Hope this helps!

Online, you can purchase them at bowling.com, bowlersparadise.com, bowlingball.com and bowlingballsales.com. KMart also sells bowling equipment at competitive prices as well.

What is the proper way to break-in new bowling shoes?

My wife and I just bought bowling shoes so we don't have to rent any more. How do you break in the soles? They appear to be leather if that makes a difference.

Try some of the powder bags (not talcum) that the pro shops sell. Rub the bag onto your sole and wipe off.

When you are at the settee area (behind the seats by the approach), keep sliding your sole on a piece of floor where it's dry, but not the carpet because you'll attract static. That will definitely get your sole conditioned for use on the approach.

Whats the best way to clean bowling shoes?

I just got some bowling shoes from somone - and they are good as new, just a little dirty. I figured it's probably not safe to put them in the washing machine because of the bottoms. Any suggestions...they really need cleaning.
Thanks.

If they're Dexters or Linds with the removable soles/heels, and they are in bad shape, just go to your local pro shop to purchase replacements. For the uppers, just use regular shoe dressing if they're leather and athletic shoe cleaner if they're synthetic.

If they have non-replaceable soles, you can use a wire brush for bowling shoes to raise the nap on the sliding sole so that you can use a cloth that does not give out lint to rub out any spots that need attention. After that, just condition the sliding sole by continuing to smooth it down so that you will not stick on the approaches.

If that does not help, don't use talcum powder. There are bowling equipment manufacturers that have small powder bags you rub on the soles of bowling shoes that will ensure smooth slides. Good luck!

where can i find bowling shoes that are crazy colorful and loud?

I want i pear of really cool looking bowling shoes. Anyone know where i might find these? Thanks in advance!

We get our teens bowling shoes at Bowler's Paradise

http://www.bowlersparadise.com/shop/shoes/

My daughter has the bright ones in the middle because she likes the colors too. My son however does not and always gets the black or ones that look like regular athletic shoes.

What are the bowling shoes that you rent called?

The ones that are black and red. You usually get them when you rent shoes at a bowling ally. I want to buy a couple to just wear as normal shoes...

do you know what EXACTLY they are known as? "Rent-style shoes" "Retro" etc?

They are just called Rental Bowling Shoes.

If you are looking to buy some, I think Dexter has some. You can find those on any Online Bowling retailer.

Etonic might have a rental looking shoe as well.

Hope that's helpful!
