Arboriculture News

how did the great depression effect arboriculture?

The CCC planted a lot of trees in the 30's.

where are the best places to go to school for arboriculture in the north east?

Probably the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, which is part of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. You'd get your associates from Stockbridge, then could choose to stay on for your bachelors. Or you could get your four year degree in forestry from UMass Amherst. Links below.

If you expand beyond aboriculture to include forestry, you can also look at the programs in forestry at the University of New Hampshire, the University of Vermont, Yale, University of Maine, the State University of New York, and Penn State U. Links to all these are below.

I've also attached a link to a site for scholarships in this very field.

Is the rhs correspondence course in arboriculture agood course to take to become an arboricultural technician?

Sorry annonymouse its the HCC course I meant
http://www.hccollege.co.uk/

Sorry, but can you please post the link, I'm suspicious because you obviously need practical experience for this course, and it would have to be arranged locally even if the RHS do the theory side.

Is there anyone else in Greenwich studying arboriculture and if so, could you lend me a hand?

Literally lend you a hand??

Does anybody know any tree books?

I want to become a Arboriculture Consultant, but I can't find any good books to study from.

Field Guide to Trees by National Audubon Society. Contributors include Elbert L. Little former Chief Dendrologist for the US Forest Service. Alfred A. Knopf seems to own a 2000 copyright but it looks like 1980 was its first printing and Chanticleer Press seems to be involved there. It covers 364 trees. Has 993 full-color images. It is a small book, about 4 inches across but about 9 inches in height. 714 pages so pretty thick. This book covers trees mainly in the eastern region of the US. Well, not exactly, from about Texas eastward. It is like a tree encyclopedia.
