Cycling Shorts Large News

Does anyone know of brands of cycling bib shorts that run larger along the quadriceps?

I recently had a pair of cycling shorts by Performance Bike in a medium which fit quite well. I got the same shorts in bib style and even a size large fits smaller then the regular shorts did. A pair of bib shorts I recently purchased made by Adidas do the same thing? The shorts do not come down far enough towards my knee. The regular shorts came down to about an inch or so above my knee but the bibs fit about an inch to an inch and a half above that. I prefer for my shorts to cover the majority of my quads and end toward my knee. Does anyone know of any brands (and even specific styles and sizes) that tend to fit longer in the quad? As someone who is 6 foot, 1 inch. tall and who is mostly legs I'm having difficulty finding properly-fitting bib shorts. Thanks.

Get Castelli they come a little smaller than normal bicycle shorts, so you may need to order one size larger. I am about 5'9" I and always wear a size medium. I am right in between a large and medium on their chart. I think a large would be to big for me. From what I have read European shorts are longer in the leg than American. Not sure if this is true or not. Good luck.

Is it too late to save the planet and if so what do we do next?

If we are the 'most intelligent' species on the planet how come we are destroying it - its not like we have anywhere else to go either.
Its like watching your house on fire and not doing anything - are we all going to wait for someone else to solve the problem?
I think the main problem is cars - i mean you can walk or cycle for short distances, take a bus or tram for medium and trains for large - im not saying they don't pollute but they are better - also whats wrong with lift sharing in cars?

It is much too late to save the planet. It isn't just cars however. Societies all over the world have lived to excess with no thought about future generations. We reproduce like lab rats as well. It seems the biggest concern is making money with little or no regard for fresh air or clean drinking water. Don't forget about the importance of trees. Greedy land developers and their financiers treat them as an obstacle. Remember, without trees there is nothing to act as a natural barrier against the elements (Not to mention their Co2 filtering function). Also, re-cycling is seen as an extremist issue and has been dismissed in the eyes of too many. Finally, the endless creation of landfills is a danger. What is buried under ground eventually finds its way into the water table (i.e. soiled diapers, used batteries, rusted objects, etc.). Okay-I'm done (actually, my fingers are sore from all the typing). HAVE A NICE DAY!

What would be a GOOD, large scooter to buy to avoid the high cost of the big name brands?

Like a lot of people, I am thinking of buying a scooter primarily for my short commute to work and running around town. I want a larger cycle (at least a 250cc) that would be okay for possible short road trips (say 20-30 miles) even though that would not be common.

I am put off by the price tag on the big name stuff like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki,Vespa, Piaggio etc.

I need something as trouble-free as possible since I am not the least mechanically inclined.

Also, I'm a good sized guy at 6' 3" and 220lbs so I want a LARGE scooter so I don't ridiculous riding it.

I have been looking at Kymco and Linhai. Both seem to have strong support and a good track record of longevity and durability. But I don't know anything about scooters so I am soliciting advice from you readers on these two brands (or anything else anyone thinks is really worth considering based on all I said above.)

Thanks for the help.

I don't have personal experience with either brand, but I know of two Kymco dealers who have been in business selling other bikes for quite a while. I don't think either dealer would take on a brand they thought would break down frequently and damage their reputation. So, of the two, I'd vote for Kymco.
Personally, I chose a Yamaha, but that's because I can get service and parts for it in more towns than I could with a Kymco or Genuine (the other brand I checked out).

How do I know EXACTLY how to adjust the large nut on the back part of my pressure control switch?

I just recently had my pressure control switch and bladder tank replaced in my outside well pump. The guys that installed them left before I realized it was not adjusted properly. It came on at 30psi, and was supposed to shut off at 50psi. However, it began short cycling after only being on for about 3-5 minutes. I turned the pump power off at the electric pole outside so I wouldn't burn up the motor! I've called the guys to come back out, but they're out of town (yeah, right!!) Anyway, Please don't tell me to call a professional plumber or well man, for I truly DO NOT have any money left. I babysit my grand daughter and desperately need water on. I'm trying my best to do it myself, as I don't have a man around to help me. Please anyone that may shed some light for me, in terms that I can understand, will be totally appreciated!!! Help!! and Thanks, Glojo18

If this pressure switch has 2 nuts on it one large and one small, The larger nut adjusts the cut in pressure and the smaller one adjusts the differential. So the cut out pressure is cut in minus differential. You adjust the large one clockwise to increase the cut in pressure and adjust the small one clockwise to increase the differential. You also have to make sure the bladder tank air pressure is the same as the cut out pressure you measure that with a standard tire pressure gauge and it can be pumped up with a compressor or a standard bicycle tire pump. This will be a properly adjusted pump.

Ways to shorten a cycling helmet strap. Help?

I recently bought a giro atmos cycling helmet in a large as I was on the border between medium and large and thought large incase I grew anymore. Although, my head must be really short in length as there is about 4 inches excess strap after I adjusted it to my head. I want to cut it but it has been melted on the end so that it doesn't fray and don't want to try it myself as it will just smell like burning plastic when I ride, any ideas to shorten it and stop it fraying? Thanks.

Snip it with sharp scissors and melt the ends with a candle or lighter. If you wet your fingers with spit, you can smooth out the end of the strap before the melted plastic cools. It won't smell like burning plastic at all.....nearly everyone does this with their helmets so you don't have all of that excess strap hanging out.

Another option is to get a cutting tip for a trigger soldering iron, if you have one of those. Same thing, though.....cut and melt.

To answer your question, though, I suppose you could cover the cut ends with some wood finish like polyurethane, or Elmer's white glue, or silicone caulk. Two of those items WILL continue to smell, however. You could also add an o-ring or two and just tuck the strap under those.

I have 4 helmets right now, and I've probably owned a dozen over the years.....I always cut and melt them, and honestly, they don't smell like plastic at all. It's neat and clean and it works....give it a try. :o)
