How do authentic football jerseys fit?

I am trying to buy an AUTHENTIC football jersey for my fiance for Christmas, and could use a little help as to how they fit. I have gathered that 48=medium.....& 50=large....& so on. I know that he wants it to fit a little large, as they're supposed to. Do authentic football jerseys run true to size? Or do they automatically run large cuz they know that most guys want to wear them roomy. I want to know whether to go with 48 or 50.

What is the difference between replica, premier, and authentic football jerseys by Reebok?

Authentic are to the exact specifications as the ones worn by the players, Premier are sort of semi-authentic...they aren't to the same specs as the on-field (or authentic) but they are close with sewn on name and number (I believe), and the replica are the ones you would wear during a backyard game...all the graphics and numbers are screen printed on the jersey rather than sewn on. The replica are the least expensive and the authentic are the most with the premier being in the middle.
