Golf Irons News

Is there any way to get good golf irons for very cheap?

I was wondering if anybody knew if there is any way to get good golf irons (titleist, mizuno, callaway) for cheap.

I agree with ebay and craigs list, they are very good sites, and if you do your research, you will get a good deal. I reconmend craigs list over ebay, because ebay is crammed with scam artists. Being such a big auction house, it big buisness, so there will be people who will take advantage of thousands of suckers who go on ebay, trying to make a good sell. If a set of new irons is selling for $100, assume its fake, even if they claim "just trying to clear out garage". Half of the people use that pitch, and likely there are people that are lying. Dont trust ebay. I highly suggest craigs list because you can see the products on location, and judge it for yourself, instead of sending money on ebay and not knowing what you will get.

Have you also tried http://www.rockbottomgolf.com/ ? it the best deals on the best clubs, with satisfaction guarenteed. I have shopped there countless times ( type in rocks, it is the best deal) and am always satisfied with it. Either that or craigs list, ebay is either more expensive then it needs to be (people sell on ebay as a career) or too unreliable on what you might get.

Just a suggestion ebayoyo.com if you want knockoffs (i didnt say buy) at cheap costs, looks like the real thing only lower quality. I have heard grim reviews and stories about it, and few good ones. Dont take any advice from people saying Ebayoyo is great! I shop there and it good deal!...yeah, they are lying

Is custom fitting golf irons really necessary?

I am going to buy new irons for this golf season. I am wondering if getting them custom fit is really necessary. I found the set that I would like to buy, but found them used at the same store for $100 dollars cheaper. How important is getting your clubs custom fit?

Poorly fit clubs can make the ball go too high, too low, to the right or to the left, and/or make you more generally inconsistent. Is it worth saving $100 to be less accurate and less consistent? It's not to me. I don't know about where you live, but here you're only going to get 2 rounds of golf for $100, and in most places you'll still probably only get 3 rounds or so. So if you skip two or three rounds, the extra cost is covered.

And don't listen to these idiots saying you don't need fitted if "you're of average height." Two players that are the EXACT same height will often need differently fitted clubs. Different players have different sized hands, different swing speeds, and different setups.

So is fitting clubs necessary? Not if you always want to shoot worse than your potential, be perpetually more inconsistent than you should be, and hinder your growth as a player for as long as you own the clubs. And that's not just regarding top players. Bad players benefit from fitted clubs MORE than top pros.

Here's a cheaper way to get "fitted" if you want to save some money. Go to a store that sells Ping clubs, and go through their fitting process. It's free and fairly quick. Get your stats printed out, tell them you'll be back some other time to buy the clubs, then find a used set (of Pings obviously) with the same or similar setup.

What is the big difference in the "Degrees upright" in golf irons??

I am about to buy some new irons, and i've only had hand me downs since I've started golf. I am a pretty decent golfer (12 handicap) for never having lessons or taking it too seriously. I went to a warehouse and hit some of the Slingshot Irons, and I wanted to get some. I am inbetween Stiff and Regular shafts, and then i saw some "Degrees Upright" specs' as well. What are these?? How much of a difference does it make? Any recommendations are welcomed!

Degrees upright is a very general term. There is no standard from manufacturer to manufacturer, so don't assume you need "upright" or "flat", try to find the lie angle you like in a particular club, and keep in mind that lie will adjust through the progression of the set, flatter in the long clubs to more upright in the shorter ones. Most major golf stores have a few brands with pre-bent demo set-ups for this purpose.

Lie angle affects contact on the face as well as ball flight, so it is worth looking into. Clubs that are too upright for you can cause a hook, too flat can cause a fade or slice. If you need a major adjustment, it will be most obvious on the sole of your irons. Look for heavy marking on only the toe or heel end.

golf irons?

whats the best set of irons for a price between £150-£250 for a high handicapper?

I would purchase some used Callaways from Ebay. You should be able to get some pretty good prices. X-14s are like should be under 250.

Are there fake Mizuno golf irons out there? If so, how can we distinguish them from the real ones?

I want to buy a set of Mizuno golf irons from eBay. In particular I am looking for a set of MX-900. I want to make sure I am buying a genuine set. Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have not saw any but if you go to a proper golf shop that just sells golf stuff they wont sell you fake
