What is the difference between an indoor field hockey stick and an outdoor field hockey stick??

Is there a difference between the two, and if so, what is the difference. Also can i play field hockey outside with an indoor stick?

The difference in indoor sticks is simply the curved end. Indoor sticks have shorter, more curved ends than the outdoor ones.
I'm sure you could go outside and practice with an indoor stick but in actual games, the refs might call you for it. I'd check with your coach.
The sticks are very similar looking, so you might not have a problem.

What is the difference between an offensive field hockey stick and a defensive?

I have an offensive field hockey stick and I play defense. I noticed at Dick's Sporting Goods that there were a couple of different kinds but I can't tell the difference. Could someone try to help explain it to me please?

There are no differences - a 'defensive' hockey stick and an 'offensive' hockey stick do not exist as design categories.

However, there will be differences that lend a hockey stick to either attack or defence.

1) Weight - an attacking hockey stick tends to be lighter - more agile, easier to dribble with, etc. A defensive hockey stick tends to be heavier - to block tackle, etc.

2) Bow - i.e. the curve of the stick. The majority of offensive players tend to have larger bows on their sticks.

However, both of these are preference - depending on the level at which you play, many international defensive players use a light, bowed stick to allow them to jab tackle and to use overhead passes (aerials). If you are a beginning, I suggest a straighter (i.e. less curved stick), for easier control, and a medium weight. However, nothing beats trying the stick out for yourself.

Cheapest way to ship a field hockey stick?

I want to get a field hockey stick off craigslist but I need to have it shipped. What would be the cheapest?

probably fed-ex but be aware that the seller may never send it to you if they even own one. Many post ads for items they do not even own for fun and profit. You have no recourse to get your money back unlike ebay but even that is a risk.

Which field hockey stick should I go for?

I've been playing field hockey for a little over 7 months now. I'm trying out for my schools field hockey and more then likely I'll make JV. I normally play forward and I want to get a new stick. Which sticks should I look at getting?
