What is the difference between men and women's ice hockey shoulder pads?
I am looking into getting ice hockey equipment. My boyfriend is teaching me to play, so I need to get all the required equipment. Is there a difference between men and womens shoulder pads? I got a pair of men's and they seem a little tight around the bust but at my local hockey store all they have is men's.
Men's pads will work fine, but women's pads have a large chest plate that is molded for a woman's body. If you can only find men's, use them, but make sure you find a model that doesn't easily ride up.
Where can I buy small hockey shoulder pads?
I'm 5ft 1, 125lbs. Yes, not quite hockey player size, but I enjoy it. Any ideas where I can get some pads with narrower shoulders or ones that aren't too bulky? They all seem to much on me. I've tried juniors but even those are too big for me to get a jersey on without help.

how long should hockey shoulder or shin pads be used for?
i have had a pair of shoulder pads and shin pads for about 5 or six years now that i use for hockey... is it time to get a new pair even though they are both still in good condition? i thought i read somewhere that shoulder pads should only be used for a certain amount of time. is this right?
it really depends, i know a guy who canges all his gear like every 2 or 3 years, but his old gear is always in reasonable condition, good enough foor at least another few years. if your pads are worn of by now, then yeah, its time yo get new ones, but if they're still good and confortable and they still protect you, then you can keep them!! it's really up ti you, there's no standard time.,although if you're tired of your pads or would just like new ones, i recommend either keepinhg the old gear as back up or selling it!
Where can I find ice hockey shoulder pads for adults that aren't so bulky, like the kind that Gretzky wore?
I don't need anything too bulky around the shoulders because I play in a non-checking recreational league. I think Scott Niedermayer has shoulder pads that aren't too bulky either.
Take a look at the Sher-Wood 5030 line of equipment. It is old-school equipment geared specifically towards your level of hockey and it is also very affordable. They also make a shin pads and softer elbow pads as well. I wear the shoulder and elbow pads myself.

what is the biggest size shoulder pads for hockey that i can buy?
I'm 6'6 and i weigh 280lbs with big shoulders. Im pretty muscular and i feel i need atleast XXL shoulder pads. Where can i get GOOD shoulder pads in XXL? I seen some Koho shoulder pads on one site that looked like they offer no protection in an XXL.
You're going to need something with the drop down stomach flap at least or you're in big trouble. After a brief search I haven't found any in XXL, but you can search hockeygiant.com greatskate.com peranis and various other places. At the very least if you settle for something not so great and are worried, you could consider throwing on a slightly padded roller hockey shirt or something made by tour and hope for the best. Pending overheating, of course.
