Can you use a roller hockey helmet for ice hockey if you get a different cage?
I was just wondering if you could use a roller hockey helmet for ice hockey if your cage is upgraded....im not sure and confused....and if you have one that I can buy for cheap it would be helpfull. I am just starting out as a goal tender and I dont want to spend a ton in case im not good or dont like it....well hope you can help.....

It is mandatory for all goalkeepers to wear a helmet designed for hockey with the helmet strap properly fastened and full face mask designed for hockey with a chin cup. It is mandatory that all goalkeepers participating in the High School age group division and below, and for goalkeepers under the age of 18 playing in the Adult age division, to wear an H.E.C.C. approved helmet with the helmet strap properly fastened and an H.E.C.C approved full face mask.
sorry for being so anal about the rule but I am an in-line hockey ref, and from personal experience, I have seen to many kids and adults get hurt because of improper equipment....besides if you going to be a goalie, you better have the best equipment . Those pucks hurt!
How is an ice hockey helmet supposed to fit? (for a youth)?
My son is taking beginner ice hockey lessons and since we don't know much about the sport yet I am not sure I bought him the right size helmet. He is an average size 6 yr old so I bought a Small thinking the Extra Small would be snug or not last very long if it did fit. When we put it on and adjust the straps it fits but has some wiggle room, it doesn't fall down over his eyes or anything. Should it fit very snug? Would it be ok just to buy those foam inserts for helmets to prevent it from moving? Thanks for your answers in advance!
A hockey helmet should fit snugly to prevent any movement and to maximize protection. Make sure the chinstrap can be adjusted so it gently makes contact under the chin when fastened. If your chinstrap is not tight enough your helmet could come off during a collision and you may suffer a concussion. As with all your equipment make sure it is comfortable. Most helmets are adjustable, but the only way to make sure it fits properly is to try it on before buying.
If the helmet that you have bought is a little big, you should be able to adjust the size. You will notice about 4 screws on the helmet for adjustment. I would not use the foam inserts as the helmet was engineered to work without them.
If adjustment will not work and you feel it is not snug enough I would suggest that you get him a smaller size.....they are expensive but there can be no price put on your little boys safety.
Also make sure he wears the chin strap (unless it has a cage or visor, then make sure the cage or visor is securly attached as per the manufactures instructions.
What is the difference between a floorball goalie helmet and an ice hockey goalie helmet?
Is there much of a difference, and would it be legal to wear an ice hockey mask during a floorball game?
The ice hockey helmet is much heavier and safer. You could take an ice hockey helmet to a floor hockey game. No one ever complains if you wear too much equipment. You couldn't go the other way though because a floor hockey helmet would explode (and possibly your head with it) if you got nailed with a good slap-shot.

hi again. im looking for a ice hockey helmet and iv found one but im stuck if it will fit me or not... its of the internet so i ca`nt try it on. Im 13 years old and the size of the helmet is about 25 inch, its a large. so will it fit me or not??? i have a average head size. any answers will help.... many thanks. And thank you if you answer!
