How can you play table shuffleboard without the sand?

We are getting a new shuffleboard and would like to know if there is a way to get around using the "sand." We have played it like that in a bar before, we just do not know how it works.

it makes the puck slide..........
wax the playing area.might work

where can I find information and values of an antique shuffleboard?

I have a shuffleboard beleived to be about 75 years old. I would like to find the value of the board.

Hi.
There are a couple of good internet resources about shuffleboards. You might check out the ones they have for sale or inquire at http://www.shuffleboardfederation.com/ or ask at the shuffleboard forum......

How much is an antique shuffleboard table worth?

Its a antique Rock-Ola 20 foot table. Its in pretty good condition with the Original weights. Does any one no what this table is worth?

Tips for building a shuffleboard table?

What I need to know is what kind of wood to build the play surface out of and what to coat it with. Will standard pine do the trick, or do I need a harder wood such as maple. Will a simple lacquer provide me with a suitable playing surface, or do I need a polymer or armortop finish. I also am having difficulty deciding how to seal the playing surface. I f I construct a temporary frame around the play surface and pour the sealant on I will be left with a meniscus effect along the edges, this is unacceptable as I need a perfectly flat surface. Sanding the finish down will most certainly damage the playing surface, so how do I go about leveling my edges? What if I contructed a lip that rose only 1/4" above the play surface and let the sealant flow over the edges, thus solving the meniscus effect. Then after removing the frame I could sand only the edges of the play surface leaving the top untouched. Thoughts/answers?

You can get MDO(medium density overlayment) or oak veneer plywood sand smooth then lacquer it be sure to use a quality brush to be sure its smooth.then after its completely dry get yourself some dance floor wax it comes in powder form this will make the surface very slick.have fun.

How much sand should be put down on a bar room shuffleboard table?

After the two point line i've been told there isn't supposed to be any sand. Is this true?

when we play this we usually do a light coating all over the table. is this bumper or no bumper out of curiosity (not that it matters really).
Although some people think bumper is for people with no skill its quite the contrary. using the bumpers effectively to go around the stones or hit them at an angle is a lot of fun :)
