What's a good pedometer that also shows calories burned not only when you walk, but exercise or dance as well?
I'm looking for a pedometer to use when I exercise to keep track of calories burned. I would like one that not only tracks walking and running, but other exercises such as weights and even dancing. Does anyone know of a good pedometer that can keep track of this? Thanks!
I own a good calorie counter watch by Polar, in fact any Polar watch which can be found at my sporting good stores works wonders. I always have mine with me and even count the calories when walking the office stairs.

Most pedometers operate by a tiny pendulum that swings as you walk and operates a step counter circuit. It is usually totally mechanical with a low power watch battery powered circuit to count the steps and convert it to distance. You probably cannot turn it off. You probably just have to change the battery every few years.

Quite impossible to tell.You could get a pedometer with a calorie counter.I know Omron's pedometers come with calorie counters.
Why are my heart monitor and my pedometer giving different calorie count readings?
I wore my heart rate monitor and separate pedometer while doing a very hard 3.5 hike/trail run and the readings for calories burned are coming up drastically different. Heart monitor says 900 and pedometer says 300. I entered all the information into both - age, weight, female. Am I doing something wrong?
No, you're not doing anything wrong. I would trust the heart monitor, which gives you a better idea of what YOUR body is doing and not what the AVERAGE body is doing.
Most pedometers also cannot distinguish running and walking, which have durastically different calorie requirements. It is most likely calculating the calories burnt if you were walking, not running.
