What is the life expectancy of a carbon fiber windsurfing boom?
Hey there fellow windsurfing fanatics,
I have had my Chinook carbon 158-190cm boom for about 5 years now. I sail primarily in 57f water with lots of chop and occasionally large swell. My typical sail size is 4.5-5.5 In 18-30knts of wind. I weight about 205lbs and land forwards and jumps. Is it time to replace the boom? Windsurfing Direct has them for $499 free shipping.

Unless it has suffered from ultraviolet light , it should not have a problem. There really has not been a life expectancy established.

I am moving to the city and bring some windsurfing gear, I cannot afford a private garage so where do I put this stuff ?

I assume when you say New York, you mean Manhattan, which is for the most part pretty crowded, but there are self storage places all over. It might be worth the drive to Staten island, which probably has the world's largest collection of self storage facilities. If you can' afford a self storage space, your in a big jam. Even if you hang your stuff from the ceiling, there aren't a lot of apartments/co ops with rooms with a ten foot straight run of ceiling (that is, for guys who can't afford a garage, we all know that there are Manhattan apartments that you could store a battleship. If you are rich enough).
How do I make a beach cart/dolly for my windsurfing board and equipment?
I've got a ten foot windsurfing board, along with a mast (not sure how long it is, prob like 15 or 16 feet). I live about 4 blocks from the beach, but I don't want to drive back and forth to get all my stuff there, and it's a big hassle to walk with it. I've found some places online that sell something I could use for $200+, but I was thinking of something with PVC piping.
If anybody has any experience building something like this, especially if it has a bike hookup (but not necessary), I would really appreciate it.

which I used to wheel a couple of surfboards and gear to the beach. I used some salvaged wheels off a jogger baby stroller and pcv for about $30 total. You can get some ideas on how the basic construction goes and modify it to fit your needs.
I once ried to tow it with a bicycle ( had a strap going from the back of the bike to a velcro strap around the front of the carrier, but it did not work very well, was very ackward when it came to turns. )

i am looking to find useful information about locations for windsurfing in ireland as i am due to spend a few weeks travelling around ireland with my windsurf gear. so if any windsurfers out there know of how i can find the best spots that would be great. thanks
