In Volley Ball, when your coach switches you for some one else,(during the game), does it mean your a bad player?

What is the best time for beach volley ball?

When traveling in Florida, I frequently see deserted volley ball courts at the beach. I wondered if I only go to the beaches at times when nobody plays volley ball for some reason.


^when its raining its all muddy and less appealing to dive for the ball
and most beach volleyball games are played on saturday mornings/afternoons. sometimes sundays

What are some things to know when trying out for volley ball?

This is my first year trying out for volley ball and im going to be in 8th grade. My school is very competitive and the only sport i played my whole life was softball. I've only played volley ball in gym class and a little with my frens.


the drills u do in try out depends on your coaches. for example, in my school, we are a very competitive skool too, and our try out takes usually 3 or 4 practices and we do the basic stuff like bump set spike, but my old coach, he choose his players by how long they've played, how strong they are and what there attitude is like. coz u can always train an inexperience person with no skill, but u cant tame a person with great skills andhave attitude problems..


anyways, back to ur question..there are three main basic skills u need in volleyball. Bump, Set, Spike. so it is most likely, they will test u on that.

u need to know how to bump, set, and spike.

bump: using the area from ur wris to almost ur elbow. (never use ur hand, just arms), remeber, knees bend, be as low as possible. arm straight, dont bend ur elbow, lock ur elbow.

set: using the tips of your fingers, and ONLY the tips of ur fingers, put ur hand up over ur head, lightly bend ur elbows. Make your hands create a shape of antlers above your head. If u look up, there would be a "triangular" shape above ur head, like a "window" so u can c the ball. use ur finger tips to absorb the energy of the ball, and push it hard up. Make ur finger strong and firm, (becareful, u can jam ur finger sometimes if u dont do it correctly, and believe me, it hurts)

spiking: for spiking, u use the palm of ur hands. keep ur hands firm and strong. all fingers close together, dont spread ur fingers coz then u would have less power and can get hurt. when spiking, swing ur arms foward, do not swing it across ur body. hit the ball at 1 oclock. (the position on the clock, when the arrow point at 1 oclock, it is at a certain angle)

also, during try outs, try to listen, dont space off and do what ur told. dont let the coach repeat,. they will get annoyed. keep ur attitude positive and dont be rude and annoying, coaches wont choose u.

Would it be good to do some yoga in the morning before volley-ball?

Well I'm going to a volley-ball camo and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to do some yoga in the morning before I go.
If so what moves should I do?


Yes, that is a great idea. Yoga will be a great warm up and bring you more flexibility before the game.

Yoga also has a tendency to improve concentration and level of awareness which I am sure will be very benificial for a fast paced game like volleyball.

Sun Saultations are a good workout but I would also recommend a nice slow meditative yoga routine with a series of differnent postures so you stretch and tone all the different muscles and get your mind in a calm and focused zone!
