Where can I buy a decent badminton or volleyball set in the GTA?

Does anyone know where I can buy a decent badminton (net, poles, rackets and birdies) or volleyball (net, poles and ball) set anywhere in the GTA? I've found a few places online, but they do not have showrooms and it would take 1 - 2 weeks to have it delivered - I am looking for something that I can pick up before next weekend.

I also want a half-decent set - not the cheap one from crappy tire. It is only for recreational use, but I want it to last.

I am in Durham, but willing to go just about anywhere in the GTA.

Thanks in advance.

When you said GTA I thought you meant Grand theft auto the video game! XD
I am not sure, I think my aunt would know, I'll ask her and edit this.

How do i learn how to set in volleyball?

Hey, i've been playing volleyball for a few months, mostly at school with my friends. I'm not on a team or anything. But in the past few months, I've gotten much better at serving and bumping (we don't spike much), but my sets are HORRIBLE!

My wrist is always sore after i set, and sometimes the ball comes down on my thumb, hurting the thumb joint or something. I just don't really know how to set. Does anyone have a way for me to start practicing?

keep your hands above your head, making a triangle with your thumb and pointing finger, other fingers spread wide. position yourself so that if your remove you hands the ball will hit you in the forehead. Raise your hands to meet the ball, on contact with the ball start following the ball downward. braking your wrists and elbows. Before the ball hits your forehead change the direction of the ball by extending your arms and flick your fingers in the direction you want the ball to go.

Things to remember, the more fingers you use in "catching" the ball, the more control you will have over the ball. Secondly use your legs to put power behind set (bend + extend your legs) making all one fluid motion, this you can add after you feel comfortable with hand/arm setting.

three drills to help. 1) Stand close to a wall and set into the wall. 2) Lay on the floor and set the ball strait up, when the ball comes down "catch" and repeat the set. Continue until the time you "hold" is shortened and the feel becomes more natural. 3) Throw a ball in the air let it bounce once, get under the ball after the bouce and set it to a basket ball net. Move the ball around so you have to move changing direction and distance to the net.

All these drills will strengthen you muscle and setting will feel more natural and less painful.

How do you set a volleyball?

I am wanting to set for a volleyball team and I don't really know how to do it. Any thing you know that will help such as techniques, or what to do.

Relax your hands and make sure you use your whole hand when your setting the ball. You might only have 3 fingers that actually make contact with the volleyball, but having all your fingers out makes for better control and less injuries. Just make sure you get under the ball, get them high and to the right position. Don't slap at the ball, get under it and use your legs to send it out and over. Sometimes your going to need to do quick sets, or short sets, you might not use your legs for some of those but don't forget about those legs. They make a huge difference. Hope I helped and good luck.

what are the forces acting on the volleyball when you set it?

for example when you set a volleyball what forces are acting on it. this is for my science project at school.

inertia. (rotation). gravity pulling the ball down. and force when your pushing up on it.

Does anyone know how to make a volleyball set by setting the poles into old tires using cement?

I do not want to have the poles pounded into the ground. I want to be able to move them when I mow the yard.

yeah, just put some poles in rubber tires and buy some Quik Cement from Home Depot or somethin. then string a net up to the poles once theyre dry... u can usually find decent net in Dicks stores... have fun playing!
